A former Broward County, Florida Sheriff's deputy who was arrested last month shot and killed himself on Tuesday.
Pembroke Pines police found Trazell McLeod dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after they responded to a home shortly before 9:30 p.m., according to WPLG-TV.
The 20-year-old was fired on Oct. 20 after an investigation was opened into allegations that he extorted a victim for sexual favors and he was arrested on Nov. 10. McLeoad -- who was hired in February 2016 -- had no rights to appeal his termination because he was still in a probationary period.
According to an arrest warrant, the deputy threatened to have criminal charges pressed on Oct. 16 with an intent to extort the victim for sexual favors. Authorities said that McLeod falsified a police report with the intent to obtain sexual favors from the victim.
McLeod was arrested on charges of extortion, official misconduct and attempting to tamper with or fabricating physical evidence.
