Bodycam Captures Stairway Shootout That Wounded Minn. Police Officer

St. Peter Police Officer Austin Buss was struck in the arm and ballistic vest when a shotgun-wielding suspect opened fire from the top of a stairway, touching off an exchange of gunfire.

  • Authorities released body camera footage from a June 18 shooting in which St. Peter Police Officer Austin Buss was wounded during a confrontation with a fleeing suspect inside a home.
  • Buss and Nicollet County Sheriff's Sgt. Dustin Struckman were searching for Jordan Michael Donahue when the suspect opened fire with a shotgun from the top of a staircase, striking Buss in the arm and ballistic vest before both officers returned fire.
  • After the gunfight, officers withdrew, and police attempted to negotiate a surrender, but Donahue was later found dead from a gunshot wound inside the home.
