Investigators said Duvall walked away after noticing a marked police cruiser, crossed the street and fled when officers tried to stop him, leading them to a nearby apartment complex. As an officer pursued Duvall on foot and turned the corner of a building, Duvall allegedly fired multiple shots at the officer.
Bodycam footage shows the officer taking cover, broadcasting shots fired and returning fire, striking Duvall. The officer was not injured, and no bystanders were harmed, police said.
Officers immediately requested medical assistance and rendered first aid to Duvall until medics arrived. Duvall was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't life‑threatening, and he was taken into custody after being released later that day.
Duvall is charged with two counts of attempted first‑degree murder, first‑ and second‑degree assault and multiple firearms violations. He is prohibited from possessing firearms because of prior convictions and is being held without bond.
A handgun was recovered at the scene. The Montgomery County Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau is investigating the shooting.
