NYPD officers outpaced and tackled an armed 15-year-old male in a foot chase through a residential Brooklyn neighborhood last month after the suspect allegedly shot at another person.

The incident happened shortly after 5 p.m. July 26 when the department received reports of a person firing a gun on an East Flatbush neighborhood street, amNew York reports. According to witnesses, a teen had fired shots at another male at least four times and then fled.

When officers spotted the suspect, they quickly gave chase. Body camera footage captured the foot pursuit, which ended when officers brought the suspect to the ground.

"Our 67th Precinct officers wasted no time when shots rang out in broad daylight," the NYPD stated in a social media post. "They ran toward the danger, closing in fast on the suspect."

After subduing the suspect, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun from the teenager's waistband. The suspect was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon near a school.

"One arrest. One illegal gun recovered. One neighborhood safer," the NYPD stated.
