Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to a residential burglary call in progress in Lynwood last month and encountered a man stabbing a woman inside the home.
Deputies witnessed the stabbing after breaking into the house and fatally shot the suspect to stop the attack.
No deputies were injured, and the incident is under investigation.
Body camera footage captured a dramatic burglary call when Los Angeles County deputies stopped a man violently stabbing a woman last month.
The incident happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. June 9 as sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a residential burglary in progress in Lynwood, the agency stated in a news release. When deputies reached the scene, they looked through a window and saw a suspect—later identified as Frederico Rodriguez—holding what appeared to be scissors with a woman still inside.
The deputies came up with a plan to rescue the woman and breached the home through a window. Once inside, they heard screams and found Rodriguez on top of the woman, stabbing her repeatedly.
Deputies opened fire, and Rodriguez was struck by multiple shots. Rodriguez was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No deputies were injured during the incident. Details were not release concerning the extent and severity of the woman's injuries.
