A Coral Springs police officer jumped into a canal to free two people who had been trapped inside a vehicle that had gone off the roadway and crashed into the water.

A Florida police officer dove into a canal to save two people in a car that had plunged into the water Thursday.

The Coral Springs police officer had spotted a partially submerged car in a canal and saw two people still inside, WPLG-TV reports. The officer quickly jumped into the canal, and after reaching the car, he smashed a window to free the people inside.

Another officer's body camera captured the rescue. That officer used a rope to help pull his colleague and the people to land.

Although the people in the car made it to safety, it's unclear if they or the officer suffered any injuries.
