TAMARAC, Florida -- Video footage shows a Broward County Sheriff's deputy rescue a motorist trapped in a submerged vehicle on Jan. 12.
Deputy Juliana Tenaglia responded to a report of a vehicle submerged in a canal in Tamarac at the start of her shift, according to the agency.
Tenaglia, a member of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, was dispatched to the scene after a call came in reporting the submerged vehicle. As a certified dive team deputy, she was equipped and trained to conduct a water-based rescue operation if needed, the sheriff’s office said.
The response highlights the role specialized training plays in patrol operations, particularly in districts with frequent waterways and canals.
