Video Shows Stolen Car's Scary Rollover Crash with Seattle Police Cruiser

Feb. 22, 2024
Investigators recovered a pistol with a 30-round extended magazine after three juveniles in a stolen vehicle collided with another vehicle and a Seattle police cruiser before landing upside down.

Seattle police released dramatic dashboard and body camera footage that captured a stolen car carrying three armed juveniles flipping on top of a cruiser late last year.

The incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 as the suspects in a stolen vehicle approached a traffic stop in the city's Beacon Hill neighborhood, the department stated in a press release. Stop sticks from another law enforcement agency had damaged the vehicle's tires, and the car was driving recklessly before it collided with the back of another vehicle.

After the initial collision, the stolen vehicle struck a police cruiser before landing upside down. Footage from the body camera of the officer inside the cruiser caught the impact, and the officer is seen attending to the suspects in the vehicle.

No police injuries were reported from the incident. The three suspects and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and were evaluated at the scene.

A pistol with a 30-round extended magazine was recovered by police at the scene.

Two of the juvenile suspects were arrested and taken to the hospital. Once they were medically cleared, they were booked for investigation of auto theft and unlawful firearm possession.

The third juvenile suspect was released to a family member.
