Video: Wis. Police Officer Pinned Between Vehicles as Suspect Flees
What to know
- An Oak Creek police officer was injured during an April 18 confrontation with a suspect who allegedly fled in a vehicle and struck both the officer and a woman during a disturbance call at a local business.
- Investigators say the suspect ignored repeated police commands and pinned the officer between vehicles as he fled the scene, leaving the injured officer on the ground.
- The suspect was arrested Monday and now faces multiple felony charges as authorities continue efforts to identify and locate a woman involved in the encounter.
As the situation escalated, police said McAfee ignored repeated orders to stop and entered the vehicle. That's when he drove in reverse, striking the woman and pinning the officer between the open vehicle door and his squad car.
The force of the collision pulled the officer across the hood of his cruiser. McAfee fled the scene.
The officer suffered injuries to his leg and foot that required medical attention, police said. Despite being injured and unable to stand, the officer tried to get help from the woman, who walked away from the scene.
A multi‑day search ensued. McAfee was arrested Monday, and he faces multiple felony charges, including first‑degree recklessly endangering safety, fleeing or eluding an officer causing bodily harm and resisting an officer resulting in injury.
The investigation is ongoing as police continue to try to identify and locate the woman involved in the incident.
