Newly released dashboard and aviation unit footage captured a fleeing suspect crashing into a pond during a high-speed chase with Michigan deputies last month.

The pursuit happened April 7 when Kent County sheriff's deputies tried to stop "a dangerous individual" wanted on suspicion of felonious assault the night before, according to the agency. The 39-year-old suspect was spotted in his vehicle in Kentwood, and stop sticks were deployed.

The suspect ran over the stop sticks, and a chase ensued. A deputy's dashboard camera footage showed the pursuit as the suspect sped through neighborhood streets to try to elude authorities.

As the chase continued, the suspect took a curve too fast, and his car drove into a pond. The crash was caught by the deputy's dashcam, as well as an aviation unit camera.

With his car partially submerged, the suspect emerged from the pond with his hands up. He dropped to the ground and was taken into custody.

"Several firearms, some of which were loaded, and methamphetamine were discovered inside the vehicle," the sheriff's office stated.

The suspect faces multiple charges, according to WWMT-TV, including assault with intent to do great bodily harm, assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence.
