“I need you to jump!” shouts one.
After a moment, the man jumped into the arms of the officers.
“What these officers did was truly amazing. Their quick, selfless actions undoubtedly saved this man’s life, and I am awestruck by the heroics displayed,” Haldenwang said in a statement that accompanied the video.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said police and firefighters discovered heavy fire conditions and reports of entrapment about 1:20 a.m.
Two people escaped the flames. One was taken to Temple Health Burn Center in Philadelphia, while the other was hospitalized at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
The 92-year-old woman was unable to escape from the fire and died of her injuries, Billhimer said.
