Illinois police made a dramatic rescue of a woman who jumped off a bridge and into a river Tuesday, and it was captured on a body-worn camera.
The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. as Joliet police officers responded to a call at a drawbridge over the Des Plaines River, according to the department. Police had received a report of a possibly suicidal woman who had leaped into the river from the bridge.
Once at the scene, officers found a 33-year-old woman in the water. They worked with Joliet firefighters to save the women, who struggled to get out of the water. Eventually, rescuers were able to pull her from the water.
The woman was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
