TurtleSkin Stab-Resistant Vest

Aug. 20, 2007
The new TurtleSkin material technology used in the crash bags for NASA's Spirit and Opportunity Rovers landing on Mars this past January will now be used in Stab-Resistant Vests for police and correctional officers. The TurtleSkin technology from Warwick Mills will reduce the weight of the vest while also creating a softer feel for user comfort. The material is so flexible that the front or back panel of the vest can be scrunched up into a ball in hand. This softer "hand" of the material used inside the panels is a huge advantage for all-day comfort while still providing level III NIJ certified protection. Capable of stopping spikes when used in multiple layers, TurtleSkin materials are being used by body armor manufacturers throughout the U.S.
