Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that targeted a North Carolina deputy's marked vehicle and occupied home this month.
The incident happened just after 10:15 p.m. April 6 at the Asheville home of a Buncombe County sheriff's deputy, WYFF-TV reports. Shots were fired from a car at the deputy's marked vehicle and occupied house.
The deputy's cruiser was struck multiple times, and another vehicle parked in the driveway also was struck. One shot struck the deputy's home, and a house behind the deputy's residence was struck by four shots.
The Asheville Police Department is handling the investigation with the sheriff's office, and it is believed that the deputy was targeted. Investigators released an image of a dark-colored Hyundai Elantra suspected in the shooting that was captured by a nearby security camera.
