While working a separate investigation, Duluth police officers witnessed a driver barreling through a red light and colliding with another vehicle entering an intersection.
A violent collision involving a distracted driver unfolded in front of Georgia police officers.
On Monday, the Duluth Police Department posted video footage of the incident, which happened at an intersection as officers were working a separate investigation, the department stated in a post on social media. A vehicle ran a red light and T-boned another car entering the intersection. The impact of the collision then flipped that vehicle on its side.
"Both officers ran over to assist the occupants of the vehicles, and thankfully no serious injuries were reported," the department said.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle who ran the red light admitted to being distracted by what the officers were doing during the unrelated investigation. Police cited the driver in the collision.
