Suspect Charged After Federal Security Officer Shot Outside of U.S. Courthouse in Phoenix

A man has been arrested and charged after a federal security officer was shot and wounded outside of a U.S. Courthouse in Phoenix earlier this week.

PHOENIX -- A man has been arrested and charged after a federal security officer was shot and wounded outside of a U.S. Courthouse in Phoenix earlier this week.

James Lee Carr, 68, was charged in a criminal complaint for assault on a federal officer, for allegedly shooting the court security officer outside of the courthouse at 401 West Washington Street around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release.

The security officer was transported to a local hospital following the shooting for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

"Thank you to the Phoenix Police, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Attorney's Office, the public and the media for their assistance," FBI officials said in a statement.

The investigation into the shooting is currently ongoing.
