A suspected gang member who was wanted in connection with a Riverside County, California Sheriff's deputy was arrested on Thursday.

Gildardo Davila, who allegedly shot a deputy following a traffic stop in Coachella last week, was captured in Mexico following a manhunt, according to KTLA-TV.

"The Sheriff’s Dept deployed massive resources and worked closely with our federal law enforcement partners in a manhunt that tracked Davila into Mexico, and now bringing him back to face justice in Riverside County," a statement reads.

Officials said that the 27-year-old suspect allegedly threw a handgun from a vehicle and failed to stop when the deputy tried to pull over him over on May 25. The deputy found the vehicle about two miles away when Davila got out and fled.

The deputy chased after Davila, who then shot and wounded him before getting away.

The deputy airlifted to a hospital for treatment and his injuries were not life threatening.
