San Antonio police are working with detectives from the North Texas town of Flower Mound to find a police officer who went missing after the Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Marathon.

Jeremy Ray Varnell, 43, has been missing since Sunday, according to a missing persons report filed with the San Antonio Police Department.

Varnell, a Flower Mound Police Department sergeant, was in San Antonio with friends to run a marathon, the report said.

He was last seen having dinner with friends around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to the report, he missed breakfast with friends the next morning and did not answer his phone. His clothes and belongings were still in a hotel room where he was staying, the report said.

Capt. Wess Griffin, a Flower Mound police spokesman, said the department sent two detectives to San Antonio to assist in the search for Varnell in any way possible.

"We are concerned for his well-being because this isn't like him," Griffin said.

Varnell may be driving a blue 2012 Ford Focus with Texas plates DF1X970.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the SAPD missing persons unit at 210-207-7660.
