A Pittsburgh man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left one man critically wounded in Perry North on Wednesday.
Willie Griffin, 35, of the Hill District, was in critical but stable condition Wednesday night at a local hospital after he was shot in the chest.
Pittsburgh police said Lareko Cosby, 33, of the Manchester section of the city, also known as Lareko Rexxis, will face charges of criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and a firearms violation, Lt. Daniel Herrmann said.
Police received a call shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday saying one man had been shot in the chest and another man had crashed a silver Lincoln into parked cars while trying to flee from the 200 block of Venture Street. Police found Mr. Griffin lying in the street, Lt. Herrmann said. The crashed car was sitting nearby.
Zone One officers Nicholas Holt, Matthew McCarthy and Andrew Jones chased Mr. Cosby up Ventura Street and arrested him, according to police.
Homicide detectives later learned that the shooting actually occurred inside a home on 11 Venture St. in Perry North. Lt. Herrmann said detectives have not pinned down a motive, but it's possible that Mr. Griffin was injured during a robbery.
Police suspect that one other person might have been involved in the shooting as well.
