Three men are still on the loose after robbing the Whataburger restaurant at 3680 W. University Blvd.

The three suspects, armed with pistols, entered the store about 9:15 p.m. while three customers were still inside, said Lt. Jesse York of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The men were wearing masks and managed to escape with an undisclosed amount of cash, York said. There were no shots fired and no injuries reported.

Around the same time as the robbery police attempted to conduct a traffic stop nearby and were led on a short chase that ended in a crash in the 8000 block of Old Kings Road South, York said. There were three suspects in the car.

Two of the suspects in the car were apprehended with the help of a police K-9 unit, but one managed to escape, York said. However, he said the two incidents were not related at this time and police were still acting on the assumption the three robbery suspects remain at large.
