Bethel Park police have charged a woman who pointed a gun at an officer with aggravated assault and related crimes.
An officer went to the home on Collie Drive about 9:35 p.m. Monday because a neighbor called to complain about the bright lights Rhoda Hughes, 75, had shining into the neighbor's home, said Bethel Park police Chief John Mackey.
The officer was speaking to Hughes in her doorway when she pulled a .38-caliber revolver out of her robe and pointed it in his direction, Mackey said.
The officer retreated and called for backup. The South Hills Critical Incident Response Team responded and negotiators eventually talked Hughes into walking out the front door and surrendering early Tuesday, Mackey said. There were no injuries.
