Conn. Man Tasered by Police Dies

Police were called after the suspect was allegedly creating a disturbance at a hospital.

WATERBURY, Conn. --

Waterbury police said they were called to the Emergency Department of St. Mary's Hospital Sunday around 12:30 a.m. for a man who was creating a disturbance.

Police said the man was taken into custody and was placed in the back of a cruiser, but continued to be combative.

Police said an officer shocked the man with a stun gun, the man at which time he became unresponsive.

Several attempts were made to resuscitate the man, but he died a short time later, police said.

The man is not being identified by police at this time.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death and State Police, along with the State's Attorney's Office are conducting a review of the incident.
