SAVOY, Ill., August 29, 2007 - The Institute for Personality and Ability Testing, Inc. (IPAT), a prominent publisher of psychological assessments and interpretive reports, has formed the IPAT Public Safety and Security Division, thereby completing the integration of assets added through its acquisition of Hilson Research.
The newly-created division is exclusively focused on enhancing the ability of police departments, public safety agencies, the military, and corporate security and human resource managers to assess the suitability of prospective hires and promotional candidates. IPAT's psychological assessments are used to identify a person's level of emotional stability, reliability, and interpersonal skills that are requisites for the high-stress, high-risk work environment that characterizes the law enforcement, security, and corrections professions.
IPAT will be discussing its complete Public Safety and Security Division portfolio at Booth 423 at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference (IACP 2007) in New Orleans on October 14-16.
Through its acquisition of Hilson Research, announced earlier this year, IPAT added to its portfolio a widely-used set of assessment instruments for pre-employment screening and promotional "fitness for duty" evaluations, with premier brand recognition in the law enforcement, public safety and security sectors. The flagship assessment products, developed under the leadership of Hilson's founder and director, Robin Inwald, Ph.D., include the Inwald Personality Inventory, the Hilson Personnel Profile/Success Quotient, the Hilson Life Adjustment Profile, the Inwald Survey 5-Revised and the Hilson Background Investigation Inventory-Revised.
The Hilson products now complement IPAT's classic public safety and security assessments, including: PsychEval Personality Questionnaire and Protective Services Reports, Clinical Analysis Questionnaire and Law Enforcement Assessment and Development Report (LEADR), and the Personnel Reaction Blank (a covert assessment of integrity).
"IPAT's Public Safety and Security Division represents the best-in-class, one-stop source for comprehensive psychological assessment and evaluation in the field," said John W. Jones, Ph.D., IPAT President. "The combination of IPAT's and Hilson's complementary products and services has strengthened our value to clients who each and every day confront the challenge of managing human resources in a high-risk, high-stress workplace."
Among its broad base of clients, IPAT's Public Safety and Security Division counts a variety of state highway patrols, municipal police departments, federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies, various branches of the U.S. military, county sheriff departments, state departments of corrections, major retailers, and international security consultants.
