Across the span of the past couple months, we at Officer.com have been working with some other people in the law enforcement industry to increase our performance in a couple areas.
We have long had a section dedicated to Line of Duty deaths wherein we would report on circumstances surrounding an officer's death as they make the ultimate sacrifice serving their community and public safety in general. Reporting on such events is a small thing as compared to the sacrifice made and we've always felt that we could do more. We think we've found a way and are going to give it our absolute best effort.
This week we introduce a new category in our Feature & Editorial content called Honoring The Fallen. This section is dedicated to remember those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to support their surviving family members. The primary content in that section will be provided by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) and by Concerns Of Police Survivors (COPS). There will also be occasional focused content in the spirit of Honoring The Fallen from writers contributing work in support of that effort.
We at Officer.com are proud to be undertaking this effort and will work diligently to maintain that special section of our website in a manner worthy of those men and women who have given so much to the service they believed in.
No less important than Honoring the Fallen is keeping the living alive. To that end Officer.com has always tried to provide valuable and contemporaneous content for our readership. This week we take another step toward the goal of providing such content but with a specific focus on training.
Officer.com is proud to announce a new section dedicated to the training materials generated and distributed by the Police Officers Safety Association (POSA). The content includes several dozen training tip videos as well as a collection of articles and a number of full length training programs on various topics. POSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing this training for today's law enforcement professionals.
Officer.com is quite pleased to bring POSA on board. We encourage our readership to surf the POSA page and take advantage of all the good information available there. Use our comment feature to discuss the articles to increase the value you can get out of it.
These efforts to increase our content in meaningful ways shows (we hope) our commitment to the law enforcement community and those who support it. Thank you for your readership. Please don't hesitate to comment or email any suggestions you might have!
