A corporal with the Sandoval County Sheriff's Office is under investigation by the Rio Rancho Police Department and as a result has been placed on paid administrative leave by his department, according to Sandoval County Sheriff Doug Wood.
Ventura Salas, 39, has not been charged, and Rio Rancho police are still in the process of interviewing involved parties in the case, according to Rio Rancho police spokesman Sgt. Nicholas Onken.
"We are not releasing what he is being investigated for until we are able to substantiate the allegations," Onken said.
Wood said Salas would remain on leave pending the outcome of the police investigation. He declined to comment further because Salas has not been charged.
This is not the first time Salas has been investigated by Rio Rancho police.
Salas was charged with window peeping and disorderly conduct after his wife told police that she caught him peeping into a neighbor's window in February 2007, according to a Rio Rancho police report.
The charges were later dismissed in Rio Rancho Municipal Court.
At the time, Salas was a deputy with the Sandoval County Sheriff's Office, and had been with the department a little more than a year.
