Houston Officers Find $3.5M in Pot in Truck

Millions of dollars of drugs were found inside an 18-wheeler that was supposedly just carrying heads of lettuce.

HOUSTON --

A truck that was supposedly hauling just heads of lettuce was carrying much more, police said Wednesday.

Houston police and officer stopped Paulino Guerra, 36, along the East Freeway near Market Street about 4:45 p.m. Sunday.

Guerra was driving an 18-wheeler.

Officers said they searched the truck and found 1,995 pounds of marijuana inside. It was packed in several bundles.

The street value of the drugs was estimated at $3.1 million.

Guerra was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana.

There were several other boxes that were actually filled with lettuce, police said.
