The inaugural National Tactical Medic Championship will consist of two live-fire rescue stages designed to test basic emergency medical skill, physical fitness, teamwork and weapons employment. The competition requires a two-person team one of whom must be a certified medical provider assigned to a tactical unit. The National TacMed Championship will also include an eight-hour seminar with instruction that includes four hours of classes on tactical triage, emergency medical procedures and rescue/extraction platforms as well as four hours of live-fire defensive weapons training for TEMS providers.
