Providence, R.I. Officer Killed in Crash

Officer Max Dorley was responding with lights and sirens to assist another officer when he struck a telephone pole.

A Providence, Rhode Island police officer was killed in a crash Thursday morning while responding to a call.

According to CBS Boston, Officer Max Dorley was responding with lights and sirens to assist another officer when he swerved to avoid a car on Admiral Street near Providence College, and struck a telephone pole.

Dorley, 42, reportedly died a short time later. He was a 15-year veteran of the Providence Police Department, and is survived by a wife and two children.
