Mich. Trooper Dragged 60 Feet by Fleeing Driver During Traffic Stop

A Michigan State Police traffic-enforcement team had stopped a driver in Grand Rapids, and a sergeant making contact with the driver was dragged for over 60 feet when the suspect tried to flee.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A state police sergeant was dragged for over 60 feet by a vehicle that was fleeing a traffic stop, police said.

The sergeant was not injured.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, on the southbound ramp to Ann Street NW from U.S. 131.

A state police traffic-enforcement team had stopped the vehicle. After the sergeant contacted the driver, the driver attempted to flee, dragging the sergeant for over 60 feet, state police said.

The vehicle eventually stopped. Police arrested the driver who illegally possessed a firearm, state police said.
