Dashboard camera footage captured two Virginia police officers narrowly escaping serious injury from an out-of-control car at an accident scene over the weekend.

In the video from the Gate City Police Department, two officers are seen standing next to a police SUV while checking out a crash Sunday, WJHL-TV reports. That's when a car spins across the rain-soaked road and barrels into the SUV.

In a split second, one officer pulls the other out of the way to avoid the SUV.

“It is my belief the quick actions of Officer (Matthew) Stewart not only saved himself from serious bodily injury or death but also that of Officer (Jessica) McGraw,” Cheif Justin Miller said in a statement. “The only minor injury reported was from Officer Stewart who stated his leg ‘went numb like I had a bad charley horse.’ Upon review of the dash camera footage it appears the brush guard of Officer McGraw’s patrol vehicle brushed against Officer Stewart’s leg as he pushed McGraw out of the way.”

Both officers are expected to return to duty.
