A motorcyclist accused of reckless driving fled an attempted traffic stop Saturday, leading to a chase that ended when a Scott County sheriff's deputy crashed and was airlifted to a Kentucky hospital.

Mo. Trooper Seriously Injured After Being Struck During Traffic Stop

  • Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Bruce Thoman was attempting to take a suspected drunk driver into custody during a traffic stop in North Kansas City when a passing vehicle struck him on the roadside.

An Indiana deputy was seriously injured in a crash over the weekend while trying to stop a reckless motorcyclist.

The incident happened shortly before 9:15 p.m. Saturday when a Scott County sheriff's deputy spotted a motorcyclist driving recklessly west of Jimtown in a rural area, the sheriff's office stated in a social media post. The deputy tried to pull over the motorcyclist, who fled, kicking off a chase.

During the pursuit, the deputy crashed, and the motorcyclist did not stop. The motorcyclist was not identified, and the sheriff's office didn't know his whereabouts.

The deputy was airlifted to a hospital in Kentucky, and their condition was unknown. While serious, the deputy's injuries weren't considered life-threatening.
