Mass. Police Officer Directing Traffic Hospitalized after Being Struck by Car

A Bourne police officer was rushed to the hospital in stable condition after he was struck by a vehicle while directing foot traffic near a high school.

A Bourne police officer was hospitalized after they were struck by a car in the area of Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School on Monday, the Bourne Police Department said.

In a post shared at 11:32 a.m. on Facebook, the department stated that Sandwich Road was closed following the incident.

The officer was directing foot traffic near the high school, the department said.

Following the incident, the officer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the statement read. The officer’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The person who drove the car was not hurt, police said. No other information was released about the driver, and police did not say if charges could be filed.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
