MOULTRIE, Ga. -- An unlicensed driver who tried to avoid a license check Sunday morning didn't help his cause when he allegedly struggled with two deputies after a traffic stop.

Colquitt County Sheriff's Office reports said that a deputy sitting about a mile from a Moultrie Police Department road check saw a driver brake and turn suddenly at about 10:15 a.m. upon his approach toward the Moultrie officers.

The deputy followed and made a traffic stop on Second Avenue.

The driver gave the officer his name as Michael Griggs and also gave a false date of birth, the reports said. When the information came back as false, the deputy, who had been joined by a second officer, tried to handcuff Alex Terrell Harvey. At that time, Harvey began struggling with the officers and all three fell to the ground.

Harvey was taken into custody, at which time the officers found two bags of suspected marijuana on him, the reports said.

Harvey, 26, 222 Second St. S.E., was charged with obstruction of an officer, driving while license suspended or revoked and possession of marijuana.

In a second incident, Marvin Aguilar Domingo, 21, 126 Willow Drive, was charged Sunday with obstruction of an officer, driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane and no driver's license.

Sheriff's reports said that a deputy saw a car being driven erratically at 2:22 a.m. on Georgia Highway 133 South and followed to Sardis Church Road.

When the officer tried to stop the car, Domingo turned into his driveway, got out and ran, the reports said. The officer caught Domingo and had to subdue him before he could be arrested.
