Nov. 11-- A Tulsa police officer sustained what were believed to be relatively minor injuries when he was hit while directing traffic at the scene of another accident Thursday night.

Officer Marshall Luton, 44, was struck around 9:30 p.m. while directing traffic at an auto-pedestrian accident at 15th Street and Evanston Ave., Sgt. Jack Walton said.

Walton said the driver of a GMC Yukon initially slowed down but then sped up and hit Luton, sending the officer airborne.

Luton appeared to sustain "cuts and bruises," Walton said. EMSA spokesman Chris Stevens reported that a 44-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Oklahoma State University Medical Center in fair condition.

The driver of the Yukon was given a traffic citation, Walton said.

A 51-year-old man who was injured in the original auto-pedestrian accident was taken to St. John Medical Center in serious condition.
