Watch S.D. Officer Make Food Delivery after Driver's Arrest

Jan. 26, 2022
"I know I'm not who you were expecting, but your driver got arrested for some things he didn't take care of," said a Sioux Falls officer who completed the woman's DoorDash order.

A South Dakota police officer made sure a woman's food order arrived at its destination despite the delivery driver being arrested en route.

The thoughtful delivery happened at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sioux Falls, Newsweek reports. Footage of the Sioux Falls police officer making the drop-off was captured on a home security camera and uploaded to TikTok before going viral, according to KELO-TV.

In the video, the officer can be heard explaining the unusual situation.

"I know I'm not who you were expecting, but your driver got arrested for some things he didn't take care of," the officer, holding what appears to be a meal from Arby's, said in the footage. "So I figured I'd complete the DoorDash for you."

Sioux Falls Officer Sam Clemens addressed his colleague's actions during a news briefing.

“This isn’t normal by any stretch,” he said. “It’s not like we have officers that are out delivering food, but the little things like this, going above and beyond, helping people out. That’s the things that we do. And probably more often than people realize.”
