9 Ohio Police, Fire Departments to Launch Statewide Drone as First Responder Pilot Program

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced a yearlong Statewide Drone First Responder Pilot Program set to launch this spring at nine police, fire and EMS agencies.

The program will deploy remotely launched drones from docking stations to emergency scenes to provide live video and, in some cases, deliver critical medical supplies.

Participating agencies include Amherst, Athens, Lima and Toledo police, among others, as Gov. Mike DeWine said the initiative aims to enhance responder safety and operational efficiency.
