Florida police are investigating a shooting after a victim drove himself to a department station Tuesday.
The incident happened at about 3 p.m. when a man who had been shot at another location made his way in a van to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department headquarters, WPLG-TV reports. The man's injuries weren't considered life-threatening, and medics were called to the scene.
“Officers immediately made contact with the adult male until (Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue) arrived and transported him to the hospital,” the department stated in an online post.
Investigators combed over the wheelchair-accessible van that the victim drove to the station in and determined the shooting happened in the city's Dorsey Riverbend neighborhood. The vehicle was part of the fleet of Myle, a rideshare company that also handles non-emergency medical transportation.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation and anyone with information should contact us immediately,” the department stated.
