Medford Police Headquarters

Dec. 5, 2022
The project in Massachusetts involved a feasibility study and rigorous site selection process.

This facility received the LE Facilities II Silver award in the 2022 Officer Station Design Awards.

This facility is located on the City’s Public Safety Campus, with a Fire Headquarters close by. The project involved a feasibility study and rigorous site selection process. Beyond satisfying essential departmental needs, the building includes several notable features and attributes such as equitable facilities for female and male staff, a booking and detention area that meets evolving policing standards, both private and shared work areas to allow for greater flexibility, and a large public meeting space. The building is also designed to be flood-proof, fossil-fuel free, and Net-Zero ready.

Using a detailed matrix of factors including cost, available land, after evaluation of numerous sites determined that the best location for the replacement station was on the current campus, necessitating site-specific design that could accommodate several constraints, such as preparing the building to accommodate potential future flooding and incorporating resilient design features.
