Stonington, Conn. — The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of Coast Guard members and their families, announced today its support of a new playground at Coast Guard Air Station Houston. Located at one of the busiest Coast Guard bases in the country, the playground will provide enjoyment for the families and boost the morale of individuals stationed there.
Donating their time for the overall benefit of the entire base, chiefs and officers at Coast Guard Air Station Houston recently built the new playground with equipment proudly procured by the Coast Guard Foundation. With over 80 men and women, and their families stationed in the area, a central location for children to play is seen as one of the centerpieces of the morale, welfare and recreation efforts on base.
“We know that the duties the men and women of the Coast Guard perform can be very stressful,” said Anne Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “Having a place for them to relax and enjoy time with their family and children is so important, not just for their peace of mind, but in their abilities to perform effectively. We are thrilled to be a part of this project.”
