Entire Ohio Police Force Resigns: 'We're Tired of Being Disrespected'
- Members of the Craig Beach Police Department stepped down during a Village Council meeting, claiming they lacked support and were micromanaged by officials.
A Texas city plans to rebuild its police department after its chief and all of its officers resigned their posts, officials say.
City Manager Mike Smith told KFDX-TV that the entire staff of the Jacksboro Police Department had resigned and taken other jobs. Smith said they left on their own and wouldn't elaborate on what led to the departures.
Despite the resignations, the city has no plans to eliminate the agency. Instead, they're looking at it as a restart. Jack County sheriff’s deputies will provide coverage in the interim.
“We’re not losing the department," Smith told KFDX. "Like I said, we’re rebuilding that department. We will continue to have law enforcement coverage. We will continue to have the same number of officers on duty as we had when the department was here. They’ll just be driving a different vehicle or in a different uniform. But they’re still certified law enforcement officers."
The next step for the city will be to post a job opening for police chief, said Smith. The new chief will then hire new officers.
