Video: Pa. Police Receive $15 Parking Fine Paid in Dimes

Jan. 17, 2023
In an online video, the Lititz Police Department sarcastically thanked an individual who used 13 stamps to mail 150 dimes to pay off a parking ticket.

A dime a dozen is an understatement after the Lititz Police Department received a unique payment for a parking fine.

The driver, whom the department didn’t identify, opted to pay a $15 parking ticket with dimes—150 of them.

Lititz Police posted a video on Facebook of the mailed ticket on Jan. 11, thanking the sender for paying the fine. In the video, dimes were seen spilling out the side of the mailed ticket with 13 stamps. Lititz Police shared a list of facts about the package in the description.

“With the nationwide coin shortage still in full swing, you went above and beyond the call of duty by making sure our supply of US 10-cent pieces is bounteous,” the police department wrote. “The fact that you, Mr. Parking Ticket Receiver, took the time to think of us while paying your parking ticket speaks volumes to your character as a human.”

The police department noted that it cost the sender an extra $7.20 to mail the dimes in.
