Officer Down: Deputy Sheriff Phillip Campas

CALIFORNIA-On July 25, 2021, Deputy Sheriff Phillip Campas, of the Kern County Sheriff's Office, was killed after responding to a shooting and barricaded subject call. Deputies were called to the area for a shooting. The suspect opened fire and barricaded himself inside the home and the SWAT team was deployed. As they approached the home the suspect fired and struck Deputy Campas and another deputy. Both deputies were taken to a nearby hospital where Deputy Campas succumbed to his injuries. 

The suspect was shot, sustaining injuries.
