NORWALK, CT—Norwalk police rescued a kayaker in distress in Long Island Sound over the weekend, officials said.

Marine Unit Officers Owen Lee and Chris Kassimis were dispatched to the waters between Chimmon and Cockenoe islands at 4:07 p.m. Saturday for a report of a kayaker in distress, the Norwalk Police Department said in a post on Facebook.

Police said the officers arrived to find the individual signaling for help by waving his paddle overhead. They said kayaker was not wearing a life jacket, but was staying afloat by clinging to two flotation devices and a life jacket.

The officers quickly brought the person aboard their vessel, police said, adding the individual was not injured and did not need medical attention.

Police shared body-camera footage of the incident, showing them as they pulled up to the kayaker, who was floating in the water, and as they worked together to drag the man on board.
