A fire ripped through a Hollywood police vehicle parked on a Kendale Lakes street early Thursday morning, according to Miami-Dade authorities. Police say the fire might have been deliberately set.
Fire-rescue crews and police officers responded to reports of the burning SUV near the 4500 block of Southwest 139th Court around midnight, according to the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s office. Video captured from the residential neighborhood, reported Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami, shows flames shooting through the roof and rear of the SUV as witnesses look at the vehicle.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which seriously damaged the SUV and left a patch of scorched grass, according to the station. No one was in the SUV at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The sheriff’s office says “there might be a person of interest who might have started the fire.”
The agency said its arson squad was on the scene into Thursday morning to investigate. The sheriff’s office did not say whether a Hollywood police officer lived where the burning SUV was found.
