Authorities launched a search for whoever shot at a deputy’s patrol car in Rolling Hills Estates on Sunday, Feb. 22.
The deputy was checking on a report that multiple vehicles were speeding when he heard a pop from his car in the 600 block of Deep Valley Drive just after 9 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
He got out of his car and found a bullet hole on the passenger side of the trunk hatch with no exit hole. He was not injured in the shooting, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies and police from area departments contained the area during the search and officials closed a portion of Silver Spur Road for several hours.
The investigation was ongoing.
