Two Boston Police officers were seriously injured in a crash in Boston’s South End early Friday morning, the department said.

The crash happened around 4:02 a.m. near the intersection of East Berkeley and Washington streets in the South End. Two officers sustained serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment, said Sgt. Detective John Boyle, the department’s chief spokesman.

A third person in a second vehicle was also injured and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Boyle said.

The exact circumstances of the crash were not immediately clear.
