WATERBURY, CT — A 21-year-old Oakville woman is facing several motor vehicle charges after striking a sedan and trooper's cruiser in the eastbound lanes on Interstate 84, according to state police.
Police said that Kaitlyn Mckenna was traveling too fast when she lost control of her car in the area of exit 25A around 5:40 p.m. Saturday and struck two other motor vehicles, state police said. They added Mckenna hit the right side of a Toyota Corolla and then the rear of the trooper's cruiser.
The trooper was parked on the right shoulder of the highway without a seatbelt when the cruiser was struck, police said.
Police said Mckenna and the 33-year-old state trooper were transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.
Mckenna was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, failure to drive in proper lane and traveling too fast for conditions.
