Pa. Police Officer Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash Caused by Suspected Drunk Driver

March 13, 2024
A man accused of drunken driving rear-ended a vehicle at a Northampton County stoplight, and the impact sent the car into a Wilson police cruiser.

An Easton man caused a three-vehicle crash that injured an officer and another driver Monday night in Northampton County, according to police.

Wilson police said the driver rear-ended a vehicle, which then hit a patrol vehicle, about 6:50 p.m. in the 2100 block of Northampton Street.

Both vehicles were stopped at a red light westbound on Northampton Street at the intersection with South 22nd Street when the man crashed into the first vehicle. That vehicle was then pushed into the patrol car in front of it, police said.

The officer in the patrol vehicle and the driver in the car behind it were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The man who police believe caused the crash was not injured and was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving and related offenses, according to authorities. The Morning Call is not identifying the man because court records did not list any recent charges for him as of Tuesday morning.
