Feb. 22, 2024
A New Jersey State Police trooper was hospitalized with moderate injuries when a car slammed into his cruiser, which was blocking off an intersection under construction in East Brunswick.

A New Jersey State Police trooper on a road construction detail was injured after his vehicle was struck by a car early Wednesday on Route 18 in East Brunswick, officials said.

The marked State Police vehicle was parked horizontally in the southbound left and left center lane with its emergency lights activated while the right and right center lanes were blocked off with orange traffic cones at the intersection with Tices Lanes when the crash took place just before 3:40 a.m., authorities said.

A car slammed into the trooper’s vehicle, ran off the roadway to the right and struck a snow embankment. The trooper was hospitalized with what State Police described as moderate injuries.

It wasn’t immediately clear early Thursday if the driver was charged or injured.
