Calif. Police Pursuit Ends With Car Crash, Arrest
An Antioch man led Richmond police on a car chase along more than a mile of city streets before crashing into a tree and getting arrested early Monday morning, police said.
An officer attempted to pull over the car, which was believed to be stolen, near the corner of Harbour Way South and Cutting Boulevard shortly before 1:30 a.m. When the officer got out of his patrol car to approach the vehicle, the car sped off down Cutting Boulevard, said Lt. Bisa French.
The suspect, Maurice Robinson, 27, allegedly drove on for about 1 1/2 miles until he crashed the car into a tree at Cutting Boulevard and 41st Street. He then got out and ran into John F. Kennedy Park, French said, but was quickly caught and arrested.
Robinson was alone in the car and was "slightly injured" in the collision with the tree, French said. Nobody else was reported hurt and no other property appeared damaged.
